company’s gone home
the sounds of laughter linger
in a quiet house

Still sinus-whacked. I’m beginning to wonder if I’ve got a sinus infection, which would be a pain, because I’d have to drive into Bakersfield to see a doctor and probably miss work. Well, I feel less icky today, just still stuffed up beyond belief, so I’ll wait a bit longer.

I’ve got my four-mile run today, since I didn’t do it yesterday. I’m going to be slow today, but I’ll get it done.

I haven’t done much of anything this weekend, except hang out with Mom and the cousins, and lie around trying to breathe. I did manage to remember to pump water last night. I didn’t do it Friday; I should pump again today. I didn’t clean the fish tank, will skip that this week. Nor did I do any cleaning or projects. Well, except for working on my fiction site. I’ve only got three more stories to upload, and then all the stories that were already posted will be up on the new site. Then I can start hunting up previously-unposted stuff and putting it up there, too. No word from my co-writer on “Looking Glass,” so it looks like I’ll be posting that as well.

I was looking through my “stories” folder just now and saw a file name I didn’t recognize at all, so I clicked on it to see what it was, and was surprised to find an RPS story I’d written back in my LOTRIPS days. I’d completely forgotten that I’d written any RPS. There were three completed stories, I think. I never posted them anywhere except to the mailing list I was on. I’m not going to post them now, either, it’s just weird to stumble across a fandom I’d forgotten.

I spent about an hour yesterday trying out new themes for this blog, but was frustrated by the inability to change fonts and font sizes on most of them. There were some pretty ones, but with teeny-tiny type I can’t read. Then, finally, it occurred to me that the only thing I don’t like about this layout is the justified text, so I skimmed through the stylesheet and commented out the line that says to justify the text and there you go!

I also went back and put cuts in all the entries so I could list more than one on a page without it being horrendously long. Not sure I like that—my first paragraph is always what time I got up and how my allergies are doing, boring stuff, makes my blog look even more lame than it is! I suppose I need to start coming up with punchier first paragraphs and leave the “I got up early/late today” stuff for later. Heh. I guess it’s up to the haiku subject to pull the readers in.

Speaking of which, I also realized that I could put line breaks in the subject lines instead of slashes, which is much nicer-looking. Now the haiku are properly broken up!

Okay, I’m just babbling now. Putting off getting out there to do my run. I must go calculate how many laps I need to run today. Maybe the sun and sweat will help loosen up my sinuses.

The red thistles are getting ready to bloom. Here’s a photo of one that grew on the hill behind my house a couple of years ago.
