the squirrel is caught

Hope today is better than yesterday. Yesterday wasn’t bad, it was just very minimal. I got up, went to work, managed to get through the day despite being tired and feeling awkward whenever I had to deal with customers, because my plugged-up ear makes it hard to hear, then came home, had dinner and did chores, and went to bed early. Didn’t get any work done on uploading “Looking Glass” or anything.

I suppose I must blame my exhaustion on having a Coke with lunch the day before, sigh. I thought I had still slept well enough Monday night, but I sure was sleepy and enervated yesterday. Meh. I feel better today—so far, anyway—and hope I’ll have more energy today. I got up early enough, and will be getting out there for my morning run as soon as I finish my daily ramble. That should get my blood circulating.

I’m contemplating getting an iPhone when they come out at the end of this month. It’s very tempting—phone, iPod, and Internet all in one package—and would be great to have in Las Vegas next month, especially since we’ll be three in a hotel room—three people who all have laptops, and the hotel doesn’t seem to have wireless.

On the other hand, it’s very expensive, both the device itself ($500! eek!) and, no doubt, the service plan, although they haven’t yet said how much it will cost. I’m thinking it will probably be something like $50 a month. With a two-year contract. And, really, how often will I really be using it? At home, I’ve got a phone, laptop, and iPod—I don’t need one clever little device to do it all. Not to mention that I’m not sure the signal is even strong enough here at home to enable an iPhone to work properly. It would be for travel. And, yeah, I do have numerous weekends away planned throughout the year, cons and trips to Hawaii and so forth, but most of the time, I can just haul my cell, iPod, and laptop with me and it will all work just as well. The iPhone would be a fun toy. And, while I’m not averse to spending a few hundred dollars on a fun toy, there are limits.

I will probably wait to see what the  service contract costs, and then make up my mind. Unless I am overcome by want and place a preorder, who knows? I do tend to be crazy that way.

The other thing I’m thinking about spending more of my money on is upgrading my satellite Internet to the higher speed. It would be another $20 a month, and it’s hardly necessary, but it would make web surfing a lot faster and more  enjoyable. It would have a lot more daily effect on my life for a lot less money than the iPhone. Hm. Not that I couldn’t do both! Well, we’ll see, we’ll see. Just after I wrote about feeling pinched for money a couple of days ago!

Here’s an attempt to do something a bit artistic with one of my photos.  This is an old broken-down cart that sits under the huge pine tree on the south end of my property. I made it black and white, upped the contrast, and sharpened it up a bit.
